Music 1 1/7 [easily 1st]
Economics 1/8 [just 1st, i may come 2nd or 3rd depending on trials]
Modern History 2/7 [2nd by not much to a guy who gets HD in writing comps]

if i pull my finger out can i still get an 85ish atar or is english just gonna kill me?

English is gonna affect you the most, but I think 80 ATAR is possible. (if your marks in the other subjects are up in the high 80s-low 90s)

im currently
band 6 in eco, music and modern.
band 5 in mathematics.

im pretty sure 3 band 6's and the rest 5's would put u in the 90z? but u cant be THAT sure ull be gettin those bands

yep, you can't be that sure, unless the level of difficulty of your school's exams corresponds to the level of difficulty of the external exam.

not just the difficulty of the exam, but also how soft/hard the teachers mark yeh?

I'd say 80 is fine with that.

90+ is still possible, though it will be more challenging.
