Hi, I would very greatly appreciate if people could give me realistic ATAR estimations. My overall year 12 rankings in each of subjcts are in my signature below. Here are my trial marks:

English Advanced 98%
English Extension 1 94%
Mathematics 95%
Mathematics Extension 1 80%
Business Studies 97%
Chemistry 79% (That was 3rd place in the exam, it was a very hard trial, the grade had a low average)

Also, I have tried using online ATAR calculators and for one I'm not sure how reliable they are, and secondly you have to enter 'HSC Marks'. I obviously don't know my HSC Marks and have no idea what these would be as I don't entirely understand how they are worked out either and with the raw marks and assessment marks etc. Any info, estimations would be wonderful!

:)

What is your school rank? Raw internal marks are heavily moderated by BOS so putting them into an ATAR calculator is useless.

School rank as in my school against other schools? Sorry I don't know a lot about this... :p Or school rank as in my rank in the cohort over all subjects or something?

I reakon 97+, as your coming first in most your subjects, your ATAR will be determined by how well you do externally.

dw, if youre at the top of a badly ranked school, it shouldnt matter so much, just do well in externals and you'll get toward the 98 for sure

So when you say that, how well do you think I need to go in my subjects by raw marks, just as a rough guideline perhaps?

Its hard to say exactly because different people have different levels of skill in a subject. Like I could say get 85/100 raw in business, when you think you are capable of 93 or I could say 90/100 in chemistry when you think you are capable of 83. Try an ATAR calculator if your interested in final marks, then post them up and some boser's might be able to give you a rough idea of the raw mark needed.

Yeah that's true, thanks. Alright so I could enter HSC marks that perhaps I'm hoping for, and then post them here and someone might be able to tell me some rough raw marks? :)

Okay I've been researching past raw marks and playing around with online atar calculators entering HSC marks and how the atar turns out. I thought I'd post the raw marks I am aiming for/ am pretty confident on getting, so I would love if people could help me work out perhaps what it would equate to in HSC marks and then into an ATAR estimate...

English Advanced - I'm pretty confident on 96+/105
Business Studies - Going from my past paper results and how I thought the exam compared with the past ones, pretty confident on ~92/100.
Mathematics - By averaging past year paper results and what I am hoping for: 111+/120
Mathematics Extension 1 - ~67/84
English Extension 1 - Really will depend what they set, but aiming for 46+/50
Chemistry - About 80/100

Rough transformation estimate of those raw marks to exam marks (anyone, feel free to correct):

English - 96
Business - 95
Maths - 96
MX1 - 94
EX1 - 95 (not sure)
Chem - 92

You will get all of those marks as your assessment mark for all your subjects except for MX1 and Chemistry because you are topping them all, assuming that those marks are the highest ones scored by your cohort for the individual exams.

I threw all those numbers into an ATAR Calculator and it gave 99.55, but this is IF you obtain the stated marks and achieve similar assessment marks for the subjects you aren't coming first in.

Overall, I'd estimate about 98.00+ simply because HSC Markers mark harder and to allow for stupid mistakes in the exam.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much for that! Oh wow, 99.55, yeeaaah I'm not going to trust that one haha. I really appreciate your time in doing that :) Hmm, I have never expected to get above 98 but of course it'd be an absolute dream! MX1 wow, can see how it goes up heaps - and even chem! Thanks again, best of luck to you too.
