ATARs of people who did standard english (1 Viewer)

A guy at my school (rank 250+) got a 98 ATAR in 2011.

This is off topic but is anyone else's half yearly exam worth 5%? lol

I only got 83 in standard English (86 HSC Exam mark)

Biology - 90
Chemistry - 87
Mathematics Extension One - 90
Mathematics Extension Two - 79
Studies of Religion II - 88(or something)

btw I also didn't finish any of the modules in paper 1 and barely scraped the conclusions of the 3 essays in paper 2 in the HSC exams.
Such a horrible feeling leaving that exam room but whatever UNSW accepted me into B computer science surprisingly, which had an atar cutoff of 91

I still would have been .7 short with my HSC plus bonus points. Does anybody know why I got accepted? I think the cutoff was the same in 2011 and 2012 not 100% sure.

they're a bit lax with cutoffs they set themselves.

my half yearly exam wasn't a thing because my school doesn't know how to assess English and probably has one of the worst English departments of all private schools in the state. :3

It just shows that if you're in a standard English cohort that if you want to do well you need to top it or you're fucked.

I got 99.2, over 10 years ago.

Ended up with an 89 in Std English, but smashed my other units
