cutie >3TELL THAT TO THAT CUTE BITCH WHO THINKS HIS FUCKEN NORTH KOREAN OR SOMEDIN
the fact that ppl like u are moderating this site... may God help us all. if u cant understand why ppl, no matter their beliefs or background, advocate against genocide then the problem is in you.One thing Ill never understand is "Trans/LGBT people for Palestine". Like why on earth would you support a people who would literally kill you for being who you area (especially over a country that does support LGBT people). I just cant understand it (to be clear, I support neither Palestine or Israel).
It's a valid argument - why would you support people who hate you so much? It does not make sense at all to support a country/group of people who hate LGBT people. Also, genocide is a stretch - both sides are morally culpable in this particular war. It feels like Palestine is a popular left wing cause and people on the left flock to it without realising that Palestinians represent an ideology which is the very antithesis of Liberal ideology.the fact that ppl like u are moderating this site... may God help us all. if u cant understand why ppl, no matter their beliefs or background, advocate against genocide then the problem is in you.
wait this is hilarious, you think calling it a genocide is a stretch? UNHR, amnesty int, ICJ, ICC all conclude otherwise. It's a valid argument - why would you support people who hate you so much? The ICC has also said the same of Hamas, so pot calling the kettle black. Read Sky News "Israel good, Palestine evil, errrr anti-semitism", you read the Guardian and its "Genocide against Gazans". From the centre, it's two questionable groups fighting one another with both failing to claim the high ground. In that part of the world, there is enough evil and bad behaviour to go around.wait this is hilarious, you think calling it a genocide is a stretch? "All Palestinians despise gay ppl and therefore i shouldnt condemn their murder." im fairly certain that Palestinians have more on their plate rn than to hate or love someone's sexuality. yk, like getting raped and having their heads severed.
HELP NOT U BRINGING WOMENS RIGHTS INTO THIS TOO, the call is coming from inside the house. i cant even be bothered to argue with ppl this misguided anymore, its the sm exact argument yall like to bring up as an "aha gotcha" moment but its rlly just embarrassing for u lot bc u refuse to educate yourself thru sources that debunk this logic every single day.The ICC has also said the same of Hamas, so pot calling the kettle black. I think there are more worthy causes in the world for the left to support. You cant champion women's rights, LGBT rights etc when you actively support countries/peoples who represent the opposite of those values. Let me ask you this, when the fighting does end will the left be fighting for womens rights, LBGT rights etc in Gaza. Probably not, instead they will be off complaining about those things occurring inside the worlds most Liberal countries.
i think it would help more to clarify that you think that the israeli government and hamas are equally awful, i think when a lot of people see 'palestine' in these discussions they more of think about the citizens, whereas when people say 'israel' people more of associate it with the government. i think its important to make distinctions between a countries citizens and government, netanyahu has a poor approval rating among israelis currently and palestine hasnt had a parliamentary election since 2006.I stand by my view, both Palestine and Israel are equally awful and neither side can claim the moral high ground. I feel bad for the people who live there and both sides have been screwed (I blame the British and French for starting this in WW1). But ultimately, unless both sides compromise the fighting will continue. There are only so many things one can devote their energy to in life and I cant be bothered with a place that just constantly seems to be at war.
Sylvia is straight right wing. Im a centrist and form my own positions, I support a variety of left and right wing causes.
eh a lot of religions have questionable content regarding morality and beliefs surrounding certain groups. a lot of people will selectively obey religious scripture, but still the fact that content is in the scripture is something that should be criticizedimo....
All religions preach kindness and compassion.
But people, obv not all, can take those words and twist it in a way to justify their morally wrong actions, which is..well wrong.
There's good and bad people in every country
There's good and bad people in every school
There's good and bad people in you're class
There's good and bad people in politics
There's good and bad people in religion
and also when I say good and bad...i mean the different sides of what YOU deem is morally right.
So no one is allowed to just generalising an aspect like "everyone following supporting so and so is bad."
sry jane I quoted you cuz i just wanted to say this...it's not directed at you or anyone on this thread
However what I've said hopefully does answer ur question. Not everyone in a religion does the morally right thing.
I agree, a lot of scripture were written for different times, some stuff doesn't apply to today's society.eh a lot of religions have questionable content regarding morality and beliefs surrounding certain groups. a lot of people will selectively obey religious scripture, but still the fact that content is in the scripture is something that should be criticized
I mean some stuff doesn't really apply to today's society but as chrisitans it's not really about obeying the set rules but looking at the ways that people responded to God's callings, how God spoke to the people and how people lived out the gospel which is what we can use in today's society. Like we should use the rules as not strict boundaries like u have to do everything a certain, exact way but it's more of a guide on how we should shape our conversations, thoughts, actions, etc. IdkI agree, a lot of scripture were written for different times, some stuff doesn't apply to today's society.
Like i'm pretty sure there's a difference between the old testament and the new testament (i'm not christian so i can't say)
It does sucks that people "selectively obey" it though.
It's like following only certain laws, then disregarding the others because it doesn't matter to them. (Not that religion is a set of rules)
with the selective obeying stuff im not suggesting that people should be obeying every rule, i think its stupid to expect christians to not mix fibres. i think the problem is a whole group of people using scripture written by one person millennium ago as a basis for their moral systems. i personally am not a fan of organized religion, if you find it benefits you thats awesome for you and im geninuely happy for you.I agree, a lot of scripture were written for different times, some stuff doesn't apply to today's society.
