Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to do a double degree on bachelor of ACST and Marketing?

Right now I am enrolled in ACST and AF, but I am not interested in AF, so I was hoping if I can do marketing instead (something I am interested in) And luckily I have done any of the AF subjects.

I looked here (Degrees and Diplomas - 2009 Course Handbook - Macquarie University) just to make sure and as i thought you can't officially do it.

Personally i think it's kind of random trying to do a double degree with 2 fairly unrelated subjects. Like if you wanted to do marketing as a career path, the acst degree would be kinda useless and vice versa.

What you could do is dropped the AF part completely, or changing to something you enjoy more, that isn't marketing.

By the way i'm not 100% sure if there is no way to do both those degree together, i'm just going off what i saw on that page :p

Yeh I know what you mean. But I am really not that into ACST and I really hope not to do any ACST work hopefully in the future. But I am finishing my ACST subjects this year (so this semester) so I dun want to waste all the past ACST subjects so I want to graduate ACST first.

I am more interested in Marketing and hoping to maybe find a job of my interest.

But thanks alot on your contribution. I'll have a think about it:D

Yes there is; it's called a concurrent degree. OP, just do a search on the MQ page for "concurrent degree" and you'll find a link about it.

As for people questioning the mix, i think it's great you want to study two fairly different fields. It can only give you more options, esp if you are not certain about ACST in the future. ACST is such a specialised degree and with the shift to more general and broad degrees in the future i think it would be a wise move to widen your portfolio. It's up to you to decide whether 3 more years at uni or a life as an actuary is what you want.

Applying financial concepts to real world scenarios is pretty sick haha.

I notice that you were stressed that your GPA went down due to the "p".. im guessing your trying to get into marketing to boost it.. or are you genuinely interested ?

haha well was doing a econ and app fin double but i changed to bba econ in which my bba degree is mktg heavy with my electives for 2 reasons. 1) its easy, which is a good change and even allows me to put more focus and study into my econ units which are far more challenging, which helps my GPA from both angles. 2) i enjoy marketing, it's something nice and fruity and in a sense so different to economics as there isn't a definte correct answer all the time.
