Hi, I was interested in what a typical raw mark in physics to get a band 6 in the HSC is. I got 84% in the trial and i am ranked 2/10 if that helps.

Any theories are welcomed. Thanks.

That's a good trial mark - shows that even if it was an easy exam you know the content well.

i reckon you're in the band 6 range, but keep doing lots of practice questions.

Bear in mind that in the hsc there will be harder questions - like question 27 in 2005.

Thanks. I've been doing the last few years HSC exams (including 2005) and from memory I got out q27. Was that the one where you had to do a heap of formula derivitations to eventually come to the right one?

I reckon last year's band 6 cut-off would have been low to mid 80's. So, if you continue practicing and studying, you could well be a band 6 student :)

Why are the Band 6 cut offs made so low?
I thought it was a score between 90 to a 100 that determined whether you received a band 6 or not.
Confused...lol
