Greetings:p
Just started year 12, and got my assignment for advanced English
Need to create a poster, and my set text is As You Like It by Shakespeare. Any tips on what to choose for my chosen text?
Lion King?

OMG do not use 'The Lion King...I hope that was a joke! Teachers are VERY over students using Disney/Pixar/animated films as related texts as it doesnt demonstrate an appropriate level of analysis. I would definitely rethink...

I agree 100%, please don't do The Lion King. My teachers say that down at the mark centre the running joke is "how many papers until we get one about The Lion King?". If you're completely stuck, choose a popular film or novel that has at least some depth. Choosing a bad related text only makes you look a bit stupid, not at all intellectual and basically undermines all your analysis.

Teacher here: don't use The Lion King. Avoid anything obvious. Remember: there is no 60/40 split in the AOS. The discriminator is your related text. Think about the representation of issues and ideas being explored through the text: duality, exclusion, the "other" (the second Jaques), gendered identities, sexual identities, homoeroticism, animism in the forest vs Christianity in the court etc. Find related texts that support or challenge these ideas or issues.

ugh AYLI

go with a novel of depth (something a bit obscure, but not too obscure), just veer away from the mainstream.
it depends what themes you're examining within AYLI, but generally go with texts that have a multitude of belonging aspects which can relate/challenge the ones explored in AYLI.
