This is one of the question I need to answer. I have some notes on this but few more notes would definitely help.

Question 1:
How has exploring the concept and significance of belonging broadened and deepened your understanding of yourself and your world?

Question 2:
Attitudes to belonging are modified over time. Why/how does this happen? Is this of benefit to individuals and society?

Thanks in advance.

Q2:

As you develop and grow from child to adolescent, to adult, your wants and desires change. The groups you belong to also change. You move away from one group as you find that another group suits you better, e.g. When you're a little child, you belong to your family group. You follow the rules because you depend on your family to survive. You may not like the rules but you have no personal power and cannot live alone. When you reach adolescence, you feel more in control of your life. You get a job, work out personal wants, needs and desires, that may be different from your family's. You realise that you need other things in life than what your family offer you. You dont need your family's approval. You vegin to spend more tiems with your friends, you move out of home, make your own rules and decisions, you start to live your own life, seperate from your family. Your sense of belonging to your family as your primary group weakens. You move towards membership of other groups. This is usually of benefit to individuals and society because a sense of security, safety, comradeship and identity is only experienced through the concept of belonging.

although its was brief i hope it helps namu.
Thanks. But that's very similar to my my own notes...

lol, well then ur set thats basically 2minutes
Yeah. I don't think I will give every single example for each question. I will probably shrink that part to 20 seconds one or less as I cannot afford to lose time on such a insigificant question.

If it is to be 6 minutes, how long should be note be? About 1000 words?

Question 1:
How has exploring the concept and significance of belonging broadened and deepened your understanding of yourself and your world?

as a result of your exploration of the concepts of belonging within your texts, you now:

  • understand that belonging is a deep human need, a desire we all uphold, both you and individuals within the world
  • belonging has varying impacts on individuals; it can suppress individuality through conformity, or can allow individuals to influence their network/community to change an aspect of their ways, and you can now relate better to the struggles of family, friends and historical movements
  • belonging empowers individuals and allows them to connect with their history; it has allowed you to better understand and appreciate your cultural background and values
  • you can now empathise with those that appear to not belong, and the processes they undergo in order to try and be accepted within a community (ie journey); you now understand the motives of those who undertake personal journeys - they want to belong.
  • you have an enriched understanding of nationalism and the empowerment individuals receive in taking pride within their nation
That's all I can think of atm.

Really its best that you go thru your texts and see what concepts of belonging are explored, and then extend them accordingly.

in regards to question 2.
you could talk about Pip from great expectations [and south park] and how his attitiudes of belonging change as he grows from a child to a man, think the term for a story where in the boy becomes a man is "Bildungsroman"
