i used jarcaranda. its very detailed
i think the space and motor and generator parts of the book is brilliant.
the problem with this book i think is that in contain too much information.

Jacaranda is SHIT
confusing, unorganised, way too long for the information it contains, and lacking in practical dot points
i dearly hope their are other, better, textbooks

Excel is probably one of the best--> sticks to the syllabus, no extra b.s, also those individual module surfing physics books are quite awesome.

How about the 'Spotlight' physics textbook. Has anyone come across it? If so, how is it?

Not strictly as a textbook, but one of the best resources imo is Success One + Marking Guidelines downloaded from Board of Studies. The practice you get from that is invaluable.

The best textbooks are the Surfing series. One book per topic. They have the best questions and explanations. They're $20 each and there are four so it may be a bit pricy.

But for school i use Jacaranda (i hate it, has so many errors) and Excel (slightly better).

Jacaranda - covers every topic in detail. Crucial points aren't exactly obvious amongst all the text.

Excel - succinct, clear. Generally a summary, but doesn't focus on every point.

Excel is god as an outline but in terms of a classroom textbook - where the real learning + breadth is - the Jacaranda textbook has lots of great analogy and extras that make it the best hsc physics textbook.

Of course, this is my opinion...

damn. same. physics in context is so crap.
jacaranda is pretty good in my opinion in explaining SOME parts.
excel is good for reference but you cant learn the whole syllabus from it.
spotlight is good for questions.
but thats me :D

Jacaranda is pretty good, it has lots of practice questions and such. But some of the explainations were kinda confusing. I didn't use my textbook much in year 12, though. I used the BOS resources.

Macquarie
DOT POINT MULTIPLE CHOICE
and excel revise in a month
not overly confusing or overloaded like jacaranda -_-

Yeh, not many people know about Dot Point Multiple Choice but it is great!!!! Not only does it have multiple choice Q's on each dot point, but it gives a sweet (and detailed) summary of each dot point, which i found very useful in formulating notes

Jacaranda is also a good book, and excel is pretty descent as well
