I and others would probably stress these two the most:

Well the "sapient" argument is incredibly flawed, any self respecting psychologist will put cannonball sized holes through it in under 5mins. Suffice it to say, there is no real evidence for the dualism with mind and body theory, so it all comes down to our brains. Animals arent as smart as us, but they still feel emotions, they still socialise, they can still get depressed, just because they arent as smart doesnt mean they shouldnt be having sex [ in the same way that we allow them to have sex with other animals for instance]

Animals are very capable of forming relationships with humans, anyone who has ever had a dog will tell you that. If you mean sexually, theres plenty of evidence for that as well.

Basically theres a big yuck factor, and in all honesty if there was a referendum to allow it i would vote no, but the scientist in my argues that there isnt any good scientific evidence to not allow it, seeing two guys fucking would also make me feel sick, but that doesn't mean i cant recognize that thats their right and thats what they want to do. The liberal in me says that as long as it isn't hurting anyone and i dont have to see it or anything then its fine.

Even then i don't know if i have the right to request being left out in the dark about it, we dont go ape shit when we see signs or maybe hear our neighbors fucking do we? we just ignore it, or if it becomes a problem maybe ask them to be a bit quieter and more discreet [and if they tell you no, then you dont really have any recourse unless they are ridiculously loud and like fucking in their front lawn or something]

Animals don't consent to being killed either but we do it anyway, we use them for basic gratification in tbqh often rather painful ways. Someone having sex with an animal isn't necessarily going to hurt it.

Animals are supposed to have sex with animals.
The difference between animals and us, is we're intelligent enough to know that. And as such, a human taking advantage of an animals intelligence or lack thereof, is wrong and immoral.

We care about consent in human relationships because of the potential for harm.

When there is no harm done by a mans action, there is no need for consent.

You know some good points were brought up in this thread. When there is something like this that everyone disagrees with due to many reasons, the fact that it is totally unacceptable is the first overlwheming opinion. Disgust is usually associated with such feelings. And because of that it's easy to dismiss. If we look past the disgust in beastiality we see the other problems with it.

We all see them. But the debate is a very valid one. Not in that it's okay to have sex with animals, but rather we shouldn't dismiss things because we find them disgusting. If that was the point Enteebee was attempting to make he won the thread.

Good sir, I salute you. But surely as a rational man I expect you too see the wrongness of man and beast engaging in sexual activity, further than the associated disgust.
