Hello everyone! Can someone explain this dotpoint to me.
Use available evidence to gather and present data from secondary sources and analyse progress in the recent development and use of a named biopolymer. This analysis should name the specific enzyme(s) used or organism used to synthesise the material and an evaluation of the use or potential use of the polymer produced related to its properties.

I'm going to use BIOPOL but am I suppose to talk about the history of its development such as how it was first synthesized by Maurice Lemoigne?

This is Chemistry, not History.

For the dotpoint you have to mention how it is made (include enzymes and the monomer(or sub-units) used). Then for the uses mention if it is still in developmental stage or if it is already being used. If it's being used mention its application and what property makes it useful for the application. Then a short paragraph evaluating the use/cost/practicality etc.

For Biopol you can mention it's recent developments such as the genes from Alcaligenes eutrophus were extracted and implanted into e-coli to make it more cheaper thus more practical.
Relation to properties could include it is biodegradable and biocompatible which makes it useful for medicinal applications(such as stitching, tissue scaffolding, no need to later surgically remove them as they degrade and is not rejected by the body's immune system).
Evaluation could include that it is currently much more expensive than petrochemical plastics, however research is being done to genetically modify bacteria for cheaper production. They also have an advantage over petrochemical polymers as they are renewable

For a research task that's alright I guess. What I said in the development part should normally suffice in an exam though (depending on the specific question/mark you may need to add more)
