I saw this- Changed email alias[SIZE=-1]
Effective from 4 th March, 2010 your email address in Blackboard will be your primary UNSW email alias.'


Is this zmail or something else?

In the identity manager, you can choose to set up an alias for your zmail account. This means all mail that is meant to get to your zmail, get's directed to an alias email that you use more often. Basically, that little update means that all your notifications regarding blackboard will be sent to your alias email directly rather than going through zmail and your alias email.

At least that what's I gathered from it.
