It's not an argument I'm making in defence of anything, or as an attempt to explain anything. A country can not be called a "muslim country" when there is an independant government and judiciary.

It's as simple as that really. There can be countries with a majority of muslims, but they are by definition not "muslim" countries.

Now why shouldn't it affect people in real life? Why shouldn't people say 'Oh, that's wrong how they're killing that person for leaving Islam' or 'Should they really be hanging that 17 year old boy for being queer?" etc

Islam as a religion, based purely on the Qur'an makes no mention of apostasy as a capital crime. Personally, I do not see such barbaric laws being implemented in a truly muslim country. Again, what you fail to understand is this doesn't affect the people who are responsible for these atrocities. Namely the dictatorships in the middle east and the US. But these threads promote bigotry towards Islam in general, especially when taken out of context .

I responded to the fallacious claim that there is no religious bigotry or intolerance against non-Muslims in the Muslim countries we have today. This claim was wrong by every standard. I am still puzzled as to why so many people are in denial of that. I never smeared Islam as is evident by me saying 'Islamic countries are not equal to Islam'.
