well, the main issue is the destruction of the natural (love of mother) superimposed, by the artifical. Linda is seen as monsterous, because she is OLD and a MOTHER.
The chapter is riddled with irony, you have to say huxley is making a comment on the dangers of conditioning(science) upon the natural.
