When I buy books I sometimes don't get time to read them all....or I buy them because they look pretty or I thought that they would be useful or whatever...but I have a growing pile of books which I have not read...

- Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
- The Illiad - Homer
- Tess of D'ubervilles - Thomas Hardy
- The Bonesetter's Daughter - Amy Tan
- You Don't Know Me - Nick Glass (or something like that)
- The Mill on the Floss - George Eliot
- Middlemarch - Eliot
- Paradise - Toni Morrison
- Blood Work and The Poets - Michael Connelly
- Hegel: A Very Short Introduction - Peter Singer (I suck at Philosophy thought it would help)
- Jung: Aspects of the Feminine
- The Other Boleyn Girl - Phillipa Gregory
- Alexander: Child of a Dream - Valerio Massimo Manfredi

I suppose I will read them eventually.....

ooo ok from tenille's and dead cactus's list, i would recommend

a secret garden (i like this more than a little princess)

wuthering heights (its a cliche but read it on a cold winter's night)

catcher in the rye on the train. Ooo little women is also very very good (one of the few books i scoffed at but ended up crying over)

dracula (oh so good quality horror)

dr jekll and mr hyde (one of my favs and i never fail to physically recoil at one "certain scene")

i would say avoid "jane eyre" and "gulliver's travels" like the plague...then again, thats only my opinion lol

the prince - machiavelli (thought it would be interesting, it is the epitome of dull)
the fiftieth gate - mark raphael baker
great expectations - dickens (i feel i should read it as a classic but it's honestly so boring)
mansfield park, northanger abbey, persuasion - all by austen (only read p&p and emma so far and love them, but don't have time for these yet)
meditations - marcus aurelius (bought it cos it was pretty and because i was like "hey! marcus aurelius...that was the emperor in gladiator!!")
the silmarillion - tolkien (not that it was a waste because my sister adores it, but i should probably get around to reading it once).
the power of one - bruce courtenay

dead cactus, of your list i have read and loved:
Secret Garden (sweet)
A Little Princess (ditto...)
animal farm (bit depressing)
the hobbit (i enjoy it more than LotR)
wuthering heights (bit scary and weird but good)
Emma (i can read it again and again and again)
Little women (LOVE it!!! better than the movie!! such a lovely book)
Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger (rather dry, ironic and amusing)

Hmm, I've read every single book I own at least once through if not more. Actually no, I haven't read my Bible all the way through - sadly I gave up on it after about 20 pages, which i thought was a valiant effort given that the writing in it is tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny and all faded and stuff.

I forgot about Alice in Wonderland and LOTR.

I also bought Mansfield Park and Eragon (only because it was marked down from $39.95 to $10).

Hm i tried to read the bible once. I picked a random page, read a line or two, thought this is bullshit and put it back where it came from..

What i own and havent read
Byzantium - Stephen Lawhead (it was long, and cheap - never got round to getting past the first page)
LOTR - started the first one, got about half way and realised it bored me to tears. Movies so much better
Daivid Copperfield - Dickens (same as someone above, thought i should read it, being a classic - but im say 1/4 through and it is not holding my interest)
Also about 4 John Grishams that i didnt get around to reading before i got over his stuff, all the same story really
Four Past Midnight - Stephen King (i dont like nightmares :s)

umm cant think of anything else. Oh yes, i never finished Alice in Wonderland either.

Ps: Animal Farm is actually quite good - despite only reading it due to school
