Came into my Ancient History class today to find that after we did our last paper, on Pompeii, the Board of Studies had changed something for it and we have to do a new paper for it, with multiple choice :D, more sources and other changes.

Was talking about it with friends, and apparently the Modern history class has had the same change as well.

Is anyone else angry/confused/unsure about this?

Here's the information: Information regarding the HSC examination in Ancient History from 2010 - Board of Studies NSW

Here's a 'specimen' paper: http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_hsc/pdf_doc/ancient-history-spec-exam-2010.pdf

Yup BOS has basically changed all the subject papers (i think) so they all include multiple choice questions.

I'm a little bit annoyed that there's multiple choice questions because I think with short answer questions there's still a chance you can get marks, eg 2 marks for a 3 mark question. With multiple choice it's either right or wrong :/

Yes, but there is always the easy multiple choice questions that giveaway marks.
So no topic has been added or removed, just the addition of multiple choice?

...There are only multiple choice in the core topics of the Ancient and Modern syllabi. So you only get multiple choice on Pompeii + Herculaneum for Ancient and WW1 for Modern.

There were always 1 mark short answers as well. There are also still 3+ mark short answers in section 1. That is all that has changed.
