So my trial is on the 30th July and my mum suggested I take the Monday (after a weekend) off, which is the 27th July, to study and just relax rather than going to classes.

Is there any BOS HSC rules that say I need any appeals form or something for being away in a period of a week before the trial?

I know at my school, we can't be away on the day of the trial.

It's not exactly fair on the other students and may be viewed suspiciously if you get into a habit of doing it in year 12.

I'd advise against taking the day of, but you'll probably be fine to.

Depends on the school

From my knowledge some are stiffer on this than others (for instance I know that particular selective schools will not allow you to take days off before the trials for no real reason because this is seen as an unfair advantage)

To be honest you will probably still need some legitimate reason for being away, but again it depends on your school

Yeah some schools are stricter on the policy then others. I've personally done it a bunch of times but our school has started to implement the rule where you're not allowed to be away 2 days prior to an exam.
I know Hurlstone also have a really strict policy on it.
But you should do it, it really does help a lot.

BOS HSC Rules & Appeals Forms

We get Wednesday and the day of the exam of (as long as we show up for the trial ofc) but everyone doing the accelerated course is just disappearing. And I'm the only lone survivor still attending my Year 11 classes T____T I'm the one at disadvantage!

One of my students actually got his mark nullified after the school found out he was away studying for half yearlies and not being in class. Thankfully, he appealed it and it got restored, but he never tried to do that again.

Although he was absent from class studying, I believe that getting deducted for that is unfair.
He put in the effort to actually study o_O

My personal view is that skipping classes for study isn't wrong in terms of breaking any official Board of Studies rules (though school rules is another matter) but I don't think it is right ethically speaking. It is basically exploiting and taking advantage of the system; not to mention that it is quite frankly a sign of inadequate time management. If you tried doing something like this in a work scenario you'd probably be fired if they find out.

Yeah, I find it wrong in terms of, hey, I'm coming to school and still attending classes and you decide to give yourself 24 hours to study? That's a little unfair for me :c

My school has a policy where you cannot be away a week before trials or else gg, I advise you check your school's assessment policy to see if you have anything similar.

Yeah, I checked and my Economics teacher, who is the one who runs all the assessments and etc, said it was okay, as long as I show up and do my trials.

I'm still thinking, it will only be a last resort kind of thing if I need more time. But I'm feeling pretty secure about my studies, just need to finish the boring-est and last topic of Business Studies.

I'm also a bit pissed that people in my accelerated class has taken a few days to a week off just to study.

LOL give me a finance essay and I'll crumble.

Ask me anything on HR and I'll stare at you with no answer!

:) I got my Operations and Marketing covered, and my Finance processes and strategies. So it's all about HR and the little bits and pieces

It's great that you found it easy! Good luck in your trials :)
