it seems like the probability of winning on the kth term in dependant on both the amount of cards (n) and the intended turn (k). it doesn't make sense to replace n with k if what im saying is correct.
The number of cards on the nth turn is n+2.

I loved the 4U paper but it didn't seem as difficult compared to the previous years. I had a lot of fun doing question 16 especially.

Hey with Q16 d) i) we use the fact that I(1/b) = I(b) - 2*pi*ln(b), which leads to an obvious statement which makes the show question true. However, we are using the result from c) v) which is only reached assuming a > 1. In d) b > 0. So isnt that a logical fallacy? Note you have to use part i to do part ii, which furthers the illogical result.

No. The case 0<b<1 can be transformed via a functional equation into the valid domain over where the result was proven to be true. Perhaps you should keep staring at the paper.

It seems like the person who got 45 misplaced his multiple choice answer sheet

Should also remark that a surprising number of people actually left questions unattempted in the MC. If you don't know the answer then guess it!
