What subject? 96 in something like SDD has been a state rank in the past but a 98 in Mathematics was not.

Yeah, state rank in Mathematics is usually 100 - at least for 2U and 3U - usually 95% raw in 4U.

I think a 96 just misses out on a state rank for Business Studies but regardless, it's a fantastic mark!

According to my friend at Arden, she state ranked in Physics... (from that text bug)

You need 98 to state rank in Physics and the text bug doesn't show if someone got state rank.

That's quite interesting, usually, the max mark is 98 (2010 was 99). If she really got 99, that should be top 3 in the state.

I'm very interested to see the overlap between IMO/IPhO/IChO/IBO contestants and the state rankers in their respective HSC equivalents. For the past two years, the MX2 firsts were both IMO people. I wonder if the trend will continue...

In science, it probably won't be the olympiad students in any of the state ranks because HSC science and further science (such as olympiads) is totally different. Maths is maths, hence, it's likely that IMO students can perform very well in HSC.
