Hey,

In Tutorial Registration it says "Lectures are held during the first three weeks", does that mean Lectures are only for 3 weeks then we wont have lectures anymore?

Also it says "Practicals are drop-in computer support sessions", so we do have to attend those pracs or is it just if we need help?

I guess the unit coordinator mentioned today that pracs aren't essential.

Yup, it's only running for three weeks.
I'm not sure about pracs though... I hadn't heard that it's optional so I'm not sure. I think I'll show up to the first one and see if it's worth it.

This whole unit was online only last year and I personally thought it was a complete waste of time. Didn't learn a thing. The end of year exam consisted of a choice of 10 essay topics for which you only have to write 500 words on. The only grades you could achieve was Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory so it didn't help with raising ones GPA either.

Although they seemed to have changed it a bit this year (First 3 weeks have lectures?) I highly doubt the course content has. Basically over the 14 weeks of semester they gave us a series of online quizzes mostly to do with learning correct grammar. They also make you purchase the stupid $110 textbook just so you could get the access code to do said quizzes. The textbook was pretty much useless..I dont think I used it once. Overall it was easy to pass, but getting through all those irrelevant quizzes each week was an arduous task.

Thanks for that Snooty.

So I guess I shouldnt really consider it when timetabling, and I should use the time to attend other units.

Cheers mate.

What Snooty said.

Worst thing is it doesn't count for GPA. You can only get a satisfactory/unsatisfactory. Well that was what it was like last year anyway. It still wasn't the biggest waste of my time at UWS - that was Management Dynamics after being refused a waiver from Management Foundations after transferring into the new BBC degree.
