For the small number of people who do eco it is extremely competitive - probably as much as chemistry and physics, your going to be up against a good percentage of ruse kids, and i think baulko has an accelerated eco class, and its fairly popular in selective schools, so good luck if u want a high mark...How competitive is economics?
i love it, so far I'm doing pretty well (1st), but just realised many of the people here are full subscribing to magazines and ordering the latest text books :L
is that absolutely necessary to get over 95?
to have a really broad knowledge ?

Yes it's essential to get the latest textbooks since they have updated trends, statistics... Remember, knowing what's happening in the world and having the best stats to support your essays and etc will get you b6 ...
I came 3rd in the state for economics last year with 97, so youll be needing 96 or more I'd say to even have a chance (there are only 10 spots for economics).hey, im going for a com law degree at usyd, and yesss, i hate science! eco text book, my school uses Doxon's, and i will use Riley's as it goes in more depth. And what marks do u rekon we will need for a state ranking for both subjects?
And what case studies you guys planning to do for business? Car industry/coca cola/billabong?
well in fact, you can make careless mistakes in multiple choice/short answers and still state rank, as long as your essays are tankstate rank simply is top 20 in the state... I know that in recent years for economics 97+ usually is a state rank, so that is possible regarding no careless mistakes in short answers, and a 19 in mc. and for eco, is anyone gonna get a suscription to the economist. I know it doesn't relate to only Aus economy, but u can relate theory to it. I am going to get it $275...
How'd you know where you lost the mark?well in fact, you can make careless mistakes in multiple choice/short answers and still state rank, as long as your essays are tank
i got 20/20 for both essays in the hsc which made up the careless mark I lost in multiple choice and the couple of careless ones in short answers. it just depends on how strong certain sections of your exam are and if you do really really well in some sections, you can get away with a couple of careless mistakes here and there!
b.o.s can give you a copy of your exam for a fee $$$$.How'd you know where you lost the mark?
exactly! i got my raw marks for all my subjects from BOS for $30 haha. which includes getting back exam papers, state ranks for subjects, assessment marks submitted by the school etc.b.o.s can give you a copy of your exam for a fee $$$$.
