external would be geographical (weather) mainly. i think.
competition would be a huge factor to.
those two i would look at most.
and then for internal
management and business culture.

The Global Financial Crisis caused Qantas to fire like nearly 2000 employees. Just use google!

There are so many factors, including the expansion of Jetstar to capitalise on cheaper labour costs and the shrinking of QF international. Google is your friend!
