buying ice skates (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

Where can I buy ice skates? Apart from EBay - my parents don't want me buying used skates, or things off the internet.

I heard that skates are sold at Canterbury Ice Rink? Is there anywhere else that's good to buy them from? I'd be buying the figure skating kind.

I usually skated at Macquarie but they don't have a skate shop. I also want to get serious after the hsc...y'know get fit and stuff, maybe have some lessons. Besides, now I've stopped growing, the skates are a good investment.

Hi stella, you can buy ice skates at the folowing rinks:
- Sydney Ice Arena (Baulkham Hills)
- Canterbury Ice Rink
- Liverpool Ice Rink

The major brands are Jacksons, Reiddels, GAM (a new Canadian brand) and Risport. I would NOT buy Risport, try the Jacksons. Also, if you aim to get pretty seroius about skating, it would probably be beter to invest in skates that have the WOOD/LEATHER heels rather than plastic heels, as the plastic skates are less comfy and wont help you with the jumps.
