How many people make it to the second round of UBS interviews?
there should be 25, if what my interviewer said was accurate. And as far as I am concerned, I don't know of anyone who has heard back from them

A quick question, I recently decided to drop economics (since in total I had 14 units under my belt and economics was my worst performing subject)> Would this impact my chances at getting a cadetship or co-op scholarship? Any input would be greatly appreciated :)

They will send out emails on the 16th regarding the second round. What were some of the questions they asked you?

In all honesty, not much.

The subjects you study for your HSC have very little relevance to your long term career. The positives of doing say Commerce related subjects are that it shows you were already planning for a career in this field (and have some very limited understanding of what it may entail) and you will have a slight advantage for first year uni when some of the material is repeated since there are typically no prerequisite/assumed subjects for commerce (other than maths 2u - which I think isn't even a must have nowadays).

That being said, if your interviewer has a keen eye and you've had report cards issued before with economics on it, be prepared for the question of why you dropped economics. You have a valid and rational reason given it was your weakest subject but the flipside is will you be able to do well in university and balance it with a cadetship.

Did my BDO video interview last Friday... does anyone know when they reply back to you!? Would it be ok to email BDO asking if my application was considered?!
I sent my video interview last Saturday and haven't heard back yet. Did you email them, or they did reply to you yet?

Do audit/tax accounting cadetships require any pre req knowledge coming out of highschool or even first year uni? e.g. Maybe accounting as a subject, excel skills etc.

Nope, doesn't hurt to have it as it might help impress but I had none of that and it didn't even come up during my application process. I mean they expect you to have done research regarding accounting or auditing and why you want to work in what ever you applied for but they don't expect you to know the ins and outs of the job.

You'll learn every technical skill you'll need on the job! Doesn't hurt to have done accounting but plenty of people haven't + it will be covered in the first 6-12 months of uni anyway.

Just be patient... If none of us have gotten a BDO interview response yet then its just the firm taking long, this happened to my friend last year as well, BDO took a couple of weeks to respond.
