Calculating dux 2012 (1 Viewer)

Hi guys
I was just wondering how the dux is calculated in year 11 and 12. Some people have told me that dux is given to the person with the most firsts in subjects and others have told me it's overall average, so I guess I got a little confused.

Anyone actually know?

Each school is free to determine the dux of the school any way they like.

Based on the school's criteria. For my high school, it was called the Dux of the HSC, so it was essentially the highest ATAR (or previously, UAI).

In year 11, my school just got the average report mark and it just so happens that the dux also had the most 1st places. But for HSC, its probably the highest ATAR or if they cant get it, the average of the internal mark. Something like that.
