Hi guys,
I'm trying to decide which between Cambridge checkpoints or ATAR notes for:
- English Advanced
- Modern History
- Legal Studies
Any reviews or general comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Not 100% sure but I think Legal Studies & Modern History checkpoints is just past HSC questions arranged by topic. I think Cambridge does sell normal textbooks as well but in my experience, a lot of what they include is unnecessary for learning the syllabus.
For English, checkpoints is not comprehensive at all and half the book is a hsc paper and some exemplar responses (which you can find on the BOSTES website or ask your teachers) and the rest is brief rubric deconstruction (which you'll probably do at school and might be able to do yourself). Based on what supR posted, ATAR Notes looks MUCH better.
Now I know this is not what you asked, but for Legal Studies, I'd recommend getting either Heinemann or Excel and then creating yourself a media table of cases, legislation, articles etc. Excel usually has a coupon code/sale at which you can get their books 20% - 50% off online. Free shipping if your order is over $50 in total. I think their Modern History is decent too.
