Can I do only 18 uoc? (1 Viewer)

I'm enrolled in COMP1917, MATH1141 and PHYS1111 for this semester.
There isn't much else I can do since most of the subjects I want to take have prerequisites, aside from MATH1081 (discrete).
I can't fit MATH1081 into my timetable (the lectures clash with both MATH1141 lectures and PHYS1111 lectures - and no other streams available)

I will have to make up an extra 6uoc next semester.

TL;DR - is it stressful to do 30uoc in one semester? Or is there some way I can still take MATH1081?

You aren't allowed to do 30UOC, according to the UNSW handbook link you gave. Max is 27.

30 UOC for a computer science/science is quite heavy as most science and computer science subjects have 6 contact hours each. You will need good semester 1 results in order to get special permission to overload.

Either do what Lolsmith said and do a gen ed or instead of PHYS1111, why don't you try PHYS1121 as you will need to do it if you want to major in physics? That way you can do discrete maths in semester 1. Although this will be a rather intensive first semester of university.

I've tested MATH1141 and MATH1081 in rectangles (http://mahler.cse.unsw.edu.au/rectangles/) and there doesnt appear to be a clash?? It would be strange as most math majors would do both in first semester.

Not sure how updated Rectangles is. I have to take PHYS1111 first as I'm a noob and didn't take HSC physics.
But good idea, I'll take my gen ed first (I'm assuming it's permissible to take required subjects in an earlier year than the handbook specifies?)

i didn't take hsc physics either and i did phys1131. should be fine, i was worried about that too.
anyway, not pressuring you to change it, and no its not advisable to do 18units and then 30 units thats just suicide.
just do a random course as an elective or do a gen ed if theres no other option.
