Hi! So, I'm going into 2nd year BSc with a major in Psych and after reading looking through these sites below I need a second opinion.

http://sydney.edu.au/handbooks/science/coursework/b_science/b_science_sample.shtml
http://sydney.edu.au/handbooks/science/coursework/b_science/b_science.shtml

My current Sem 1 units are: PSYC2011, PSYC2012, USSC2602 and MATH2069. However, the maths unit is clashing and making my timetable quite inconvenient overall and I'm thinking of dropping it in favour of a non-science elective.

This means the two psych units in both 1st and 2nd semester would be the only science units I am doing for the whole year - would I still be eligible for BSc?

If so: From experience, would you suggest doing GOVT1101 or LNGS1001?

Thank you in advance!! (Feel free to ask for any clarifications)

Just out of interest, why did you want to take MATH2069? Purely interest?
Im sorry, just an unusual unit to take in combination with PSYC and USSC units.

Well when I re-enrolled I thought I should do it because I always liked maths (even if my marks last year might not have reflected that lol) but now that I'm seeing my timetable together it seems kind of silly to do a maths subject (which will probably take a lot of effort from me) when I'm not doing maths next year.

And I'm taking USSC purely out of interest + needed the credits.

If you like maths, youd be better off maybe taking MATH2061. Or theres always STAT2011 if your interested in stats i guess.
Anyway, MATH2061 and MATH2065 (second semester) would allow you to do some third year maths units.

But if you want to do discrete math, then take it and live with the clash?

Well, I only really want to do maths if totally necessary since I won't be taking it in 3rd year. I'm mostly wanting to know if the combination of 2 psych units + USSC and another 1st year non-science elective is acceptable for BSc? (From the info I've read it seems to be okay but I just want a confirmation)

Ah, sorry I assumed because you were doing second year math you were going to do it in third year maybe.
Second year math is not easy from all indications.

If PSYC units are science subjects, I can't see it being an issue.

PSYC are definitely science units - as long as you meet prerequisites for the degree, I don't see any loopholes.
