I wish I can get a band 6 for 2 unit Maths~~~

But I did shxt in trial which I only got 82/120:(:(and my rank in the whole year (all the assessment mark) is 49 out of 71

Yet I've been working hard over the last few weeks and when I timed and marked my past HSC questions I got 97/120 and when I did the 2008 Greater West Region trial I got 95~~~ nd I got 98 when I did the 2004 Sydney Grammar trial (though my tutor marked it really generiously)

Do you think I still have a chance to get a band six? (my school usually gets 20-something band 6s every year, even this my teacher said me getting a band 6 would be an "outside chance")~~~:eek:

yeah, your teacher is correct and with those marks and ur rank it would be very unlikely, ur results in the HSC exam may have just scraped a 90 for ur external but ur internal will b like 85ish or something

I only got a 89/120 for M2U, and my teacher still completely believes that I can get a band 6. The difference between us though, is they my ranking was around 8th in the year. Our trial exam may have been harder...

All in all, if you put in the effort, it is still possible to get a band 6. You will have to really work at it though, to make up for lower internal marks.

I reckon our SPX year for maths is pretty strong. Considering that we should fetch about 22+ Band 6s...

If you can go like 91 or 92 (aligned mark in HSC), your chance of Band 6 will be pretty high.

I was talking about 91-93 aligned. And yeah, 93 aligned is about 102/120 raw

Prepare for the worst guys. I reckon the 2008 Mathematics paper will definitely be harder this year considering the low quality shown by 2007 paper.

And I am not really enjoying that feeling...

Eh it's all relative though
But everyone has been saying that maths paper have been pretty easy recently. I would be surprised if the 2008 exam levels with the 2006 or 2007 HSC exams in terms of difficulty.

I guess so, but still the top certain % of marks get a band 6, band 5 etc, its not reserved for everyone who gets over a certain mark? Or is it?

Well, I don't know. I am not sure if markers determine the aligning mark before the HSC or after the HSC. If they determine the aligning procedure AFTER the HSC, well, the certain % of students who get Band 6 or whatever should be same or similar througout but if they pre-determine the aligning procedure before the HSC, well, people are screwed when difficult exam comes. I just hope the 2008 paper to be of decent level - not too much of an anomaly like 2003, but easier, the better. :)

pretty sure it is reserved for those who can get over a certain mark.
