Kinda, but you have to realise that since it is easier, you will have to perform a little better due to increased competition.
I always thought that the band 6 minimum was set based on the test itself - irrespective of how the state performed, meaning if everyone fit into the band 6 criteria, everyone would get a band 6. I could be wrong though.

A LOT more complicated than that.

And the state's performance does indeed affect your mark because mark allocations can change depending on State average. Lower = more lenient. Higher = more harsh.

And on a slightly different topic, what would the rough raw mark cutoff be for an E4 in 3 unit?

Would the required raw mark for 3u/4u also inflate in the same way?

My 2u trial seemed to be harder than past ones that were out of 120 tbh.

I only finished with 5 minutes to go, which was really making me nervous during the exam lol. Not used to that.
Around how long did you take you guys to finish the old format trials? (on average)

I got 94 in 2U last year and I usually finished the old format in about 2 hours. You generally need a high-70% to get Band 6 and so, I expect ~82% for a 2U Band 6 this year. I used to consistently get ~115/120 in trials and HSC papers.

To be honest, most Band 6 students in 2U should be able to complete the exam with ease.

Also, the Band 6 cut-off is standards based. In theory, if they set the cut-off to be 90/100 and everyone got over 90, everyone would get a Band 6. The reason why the same cut-offs are set every year and roughly the same percentage of students get Band 6 each year is because the tests are relatively equal in difficulty and each cohort is about the same level as a whole.
