Okay so it's term 2.
I spent most of term 1 not really sure about what I wanted to do, and as a result, I didn't work very hard.
I have looked at almost everything now, and after a very, very, long and extensive search I have basically returned to where I started...which is, of course, Medicine.
So basically now I NEED to work EXTREMELY hard.

I would MUCH prefer to do a Medicine Undergraduate for obvious reasons over the Graduate route and thus need a High 90's ATAR. I'm going to aim for about 95+.

Problem is, I want to find out if it's even still possible given my current results. Any help from people who were in a similar boat as me, or just know how this stupid ATAR calculation works would be of great help!

I've already had a few SACs and my scores are as follows:

Psychology:
-92%
-81%

Biology:
-74%
-66%
-94%

Mathematical Methods:
-70%

English Language:
-53%

Chemistry:
N/A

We haven't gotten our Chemistry SACs back yet but I'm fairly sure I've received at least A's (80%+) in the two of them.
My shoddy score in English was a one-off, I'm actually an A+ English student, and that score was both a mixture of a lack of effort and not answering the questions properly.

Given these scores, am I able to achieve a 95+ ATAR score if I start acing everything else?
(I am well aware of how hard it will be, but I need to know it's at least possible)

P.S.: I am in Victoria or those wondering.

Is this like how many people in the cohort? Or my rank in the cohort?

My school is about 84.
Kinda.

Ranks for your subjects & school rank.

Then we can estimate.

Kinda.

Ranks for your subjects & school rank.

Then we can estimate.

Okay school rank = 84.

English Language = 40 students:
54% was in the top 20% of the cohort

Chemistry = 30 students:
N/A

Methods =80 students:
70% was in the top 30% of the cohort

Psychology = 60 students:
92% - 2nd-3rd top score
84% top 10% of cohort

Biology = 60 students:
74% top 30%
66% top 50%
94% was Rank 1.

That's better, but we need YOUR rank!

Like for chemistry, are you ranked 2/30? 28/30?

I don't know that at the moment unfortunately :/ ...

can you estimate at all whether it's possible from that information though?

Given your top %'s and cohort sizes, then your ranks might be roughly:

English: 8/40
Chem: N/A
Maths: 24/80
Psychology: 4/60
Biology: 17/60

Going off your school rank and estimated ranks, a 95 ATAR isn't looking likely. You're going to need to get in the top 5 for Maths and Biology, and try and lower your English rank to top 5.

Thanks mate! :)

Well I'll see how I go in these next few SACs and find out my true rankings.
In term 1 I stupidly applied about 15% effort. I'm no dumby, but was certainly lazy. I can only hope it's recoverable.

To be perfectly honest it's not looking so bad..

You're very close to the ranks I had last year, and the same school rank basically. I ended up getting 94.

I'd say you're looking anywhere between 91-94 at the moment and I'm just basing this off previous experience.

However you have to keep working and if you moved up a couple ranks your goal seems more likely.

Were your exam marks better than your assessment marks though?

Nope.
Two were exactly the same.
My other four had exam marks lower than my assessment marks if I recall correctly

Well OP you might be safe at top 10.

But 54% at 8/40 kinda shows your cohort might be a little bad, so try and stretch it to top 5 if you can. And that's only half of it, you still need to perform well in the exam. Not sure how Victoria works though.

Good luck anyway!

I'm not denying this isn't going to take A LOT of effort, but just knowing it's not impossible it greatly relieving.
Thanks man! Hope you're right!

Yeah man, I'll definitely raise that rank. My teacher says I should be getting A+'s in English, I just really dropped the ball on that SAC (lol unintentional ball-sack reference).

Exams are a big part, but I'm just nutting out the near future and fixing my current position for now.
