have neglected the account for some long extended period? like say 3 months? hotmail staff usually freeze accounts when it hasnt been used in a long time.
either this or somethings wrong with your browser/internet and so forth

Wait a few more days; if it was frozen because of some idiot trying to guess your password then it should be unfrozen in the nearby future.

I'm not sure if that happens anymore. I logged into my severely old hotmail account (say old as in 6 months) and it said "this email is reserved for you and only you" or something along those lines, because I keyed in the right password, then asked "would you like to reactivate this account?"

When I said yes, it would activate it, but won't show all your old emails etc, it would start afresh, which I was sad about because I logged in for that reason - to find an old email.

But for the threadstarter's issue... *shrug*
