imo this is a very silly thread.

Suppose you don't make Medicine, then you think "okay, I want to Dentistry or Law instead".

Suppose you don't make those, then you think "fine, I'll do Physiotherapy or Pharmacy or Podiatry instead"

If I saw somebody changing their 'dream career' that quickly, then that begs the question "Are you really into Med because you will like it, or because you want the money and 'prestige'?"

Agreed. Most people don't realise that being a doctor is a job for life, so if your only doing it for the money, not because you like it, you're going to be stuck in a job for 40-50 years which you don't enjoy.
remember: "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life"

This may be your opinion, but you must realise that there are many people out there, and im not just talking aboout the asian type, that prefer prestige and power. In terms of power doctors are always on top of the medical hierachy. And prestige well we all no there isnt such thing as a poor doctor. Tradtionally doctors have always been on the high pedestal as the ultimate profession. and how do you not know you wont like it until you try it??

Why does everyone assume that people in certain profession are med rejects? Not everyone wants to do medicine.

Some people honestly want to be a physio, optometrist, podiatrist, medical researcher without being rejected out of med first. There's different perks to them (mainly lifestyle imho).
it's p. much true.

Do kids grow up saying they wanna be garbage men? Thought not.
