The only thing it'll do is increase the cost of our already too high energy usage and make people angry.

Bear in mind there was a 25% rate increase for electricity in NSW, July 1st this year. The cost of our energy is also higher than that of our overseas counterparts.

The tax itself won't reduce emissions, either. People will still use the same amount of electricity.

The only reason I'd support the carbon tax would be if the government manages to push the energy companies into using FAR costlier greener energy sources, they'd subsidise the extra cost. But no. They'll just sit on it and make it much harder for people like me to pay their bills. And considering the rise in cost is partly attributed to an ageing infrastructure, do you expect them to do anything about that?

Apparently, it's because these selfless, considerate, earth-loving chief executives want to make people save electricity and save the earth! Higher cost = less usage. Yes, bullshit meter is completely still.
