cindy sherman is a postmodern artist because she challenges traditional perceptions of art through her use of highly sexualised images and a viable medium (photography) to communicate to her audience. Sherman's art practice is a personal response to the degredation of women and can be correlated strongly with feminism and other artists such as julie rrap and barabara kruger. Sherman challenges the veiws and values of patriachal society, questioning the concept of beauty and sexuality which is why she is postmodern
