Hey, it's my first time doing a case study i'm not too sure on how to write it.
Basically we're to make up our own question+topic and write an essay on it.
I was thinking of doing the events that cause the unification of Germany.
How exactly should I word the question?
Explain the events that caused the unification of Germany?

I want to write about and link the events that led to the unification.
How much of the essay should be dedicated to the historian's views/opinions?

Thank you

Evaluate? that means i have to make a judgement ?
What about Analyse the events that caused the unification of Germany?
That way I can draw relationships between the events right?

if you make a judgement you can say to what extent they were united

i was thinking of writing more about the events prior to the unification lol
do you know if you can get marked down for using an "easier" essay question?
It would make sense to make the question as easy/simple as possible right?

Have you been given a marking guideline for this topic?

If so look at what the critieria says - if it says make a judgement then yes you will be marked down for an easier question.

At this level storytelling (narrative) history writing should get a maximum of about 15/25. It is analysis, evaluation, judgements AND argument (including historiography) that gets the marks.

A question that I would set for this topic would be Evaluate the role of Bismarck in bringing about the Unification of Germany. Thus you could consider all the causes and then focus on one person, usually seen as the architect, and make a judgement about the contribution of Bismarck, the wars, the economic causes, nationalism, etc.

Yeah. It is still considered "Primary source" as the actual contents have not been amended or changed.

Damn we have to include some primary sources for our case studies. Do you guys have any ideas on where I can find these sources? Atm I only got a translated speech ( from German) off the internet ( unreliable website).
