Hi, i was hoping if anyone who had previously done vietnam as a case study could provide me with information or notes on vietnam.

The Assessment task is Part A: "examine the impact that the globalisation process has (or has had) on the following indicators: economic growth, quality of life, levels of unemployment, rates of inflation, external stability"

I have researched at libraries and have struggled to find information on Vietnam and all the reference books do not have vietnam as their case study

To be honest this task is freaking me out and quite alot of my peers as well because of the 20% weighting and the fact that it is my HSC year.

If you could help me, could you please reply here or contact me through by msn supaherohero@hotmail.com or email me at the same address. Thanks, any help would be much appreciated.

although, unlikely they'd do it two years in a row. also, if they did it again that would mean it has been asked 3 out of the 4 exams under the new syllabus, of which the chances seem pretty slim

"This task must be applied to a) australia and b) your case study, Vietnam."

yeah unfortunately we have been forced to do vietnam. At the start we were supposed to do brazil, but the teacher said that too many schools were going to do brazil so they told us to do vietnam... :( But i've heard that Fort street high had to do Vietnam as well for their case study, i guess the teachers dont want us copying the case study out from the textbooks.

I've got information on the impact of globalistion on the quality of life, economic growth and unemployment, but the amount of information isn't alot. Also there seems to be no information on inflation or im not looking hard enough :( You guys got any suggestions where i could find any information on Vietnam?

woah, that's pretty tough, wouldn't it mean that everyone in your school will have really similar case studies, owing to limited resources on vietnam?

Yeah we probably would have very similar case studies, but thats okay with me and hopefully with my teachers.
The reasoning behind them making us do Vietnam was because it was a case study that wasn't done as much compared to brazil, china. I guess they were implying that if we did an original case study that it would provide us with a better opportunity to get higher marks in our HSC paper as we are going to write about something different.

Heheh, that's strange logic flyhigh, since if you're 'struggling to find information' the majority of your classmates probably are as well and lack of information is certainly not going to impress the markers as 'original' as it might be. :p If your whole class is doing it, then why not work as a big group and collate info? That way you'll get the info you want and increase your chances of better scaling. :p

And as you said, not many people are doing it, so your chances of finding people outside your school or on here are very slim.

I'm sure you've been there before but the worldbank site was very helpful when I was doing my own research. Vietnam has a few articles when I browsed through it quickly, though I'm not sure if they'll be relevant to your cause. http://www.worldbank.org.vn/

im not sure coz this is what my teacher said (and he does the setup of the exams)
he told us that this was a very likely question for many years becuase of the relavence in todays context...(changing nature of labour, globalisation..blah blah blah)
