My CD RW has died hasnt it...

My CDRW has been playing up a bit in the past few weeks...CD's getting stuck...the reading lights flashing when there is no CD in there (the consquently freezing my computer)...and now when I go to use the burner it asks 4 an empty medium to burn to when its already in there. Should I assume it is dead?

Yes probably. They are only like $33 new. Might be time for an upgrade (faster speeds too)

i got my cdrw four years ago for $200 it only goes 24X 10X 40X however i get the same symptoms as you. Would it be by any chance an acer? lol it still burns but cause it goes in and out so sometimes u can use and sometimes u cant o well dont use it much anywayz
love my dvd burner it can burn cds @ 16Xdvd+-40Xcd24Xcd-rw6Xdvd+r8Xdvd-r and 4X dvd+rdl and dvd-ram
oh wellz cant burn dvd-r dl it just came out

technologies advances so fast damn and i got ripped off buying that cdrw

um, CDRW is not dead for me, until i can somehow buy a dell laptop DVDRW
atm i only got a CDRW,
i dont wanna buy an external DVDRW because apparently they are all shit house

U misunderstood what she was saying. She was talking about her cdrw drive lol. Not the whole idea of cdrw.

true, cdrw isnt dead yet. Cheap, and most computers at school only have cd drives
