Hello,

What's the difference between cell differentiation and cell specialisation? Also, Why does thrush cause burning sensation and Tuberculosis cause night sweats; what is the body doing to cause these symptoms?

Thanks.

Can you at least write up your understanding of what your question is? So that everyone is not simply feeding answers. We might be able to correct your understanding of the various concepts you post.

Cell differentiation is the process undergone by the cells that are formed after mitosis. Each cell has the genetic information necessary to produce all types of cells. However, each cell normally differentiates to become a specialised cell, with a specialised structure and function. Undifferentiated cells form tumours.

Specialisation:Many types of cells have specialised roles in maintaining the health of an organism. For example, there are specialised blood cells that produce antibodies to attack a disease causing micro-organism

^pretty much. Differentiation is when a standard stem cell changes the form a specific, eucaryotic cell (eg. Muscle cell, heart cell, etc.) while specialisation occurs when different genes within that cell are activated and expressed to assist in the maintenance of health.

In regards to your question on thrush, that should be outlined in the textbook your using if its not use a different symptom. Also I have 2 tips in regards to that dot point below as they were useful for me;

1. Never call it thrush I always called it by its medical name Candidiasis and then in brackets put thrush indicating it as the diseases common name.
2. Scientific name of microflora involved that cause candidiasis (thrush).
