i was just studying now the transpiration and translocation plant stuff and i keep coming across the word cellulose can some one tell me what it is?

is it the stuff that holds up the plant??? like gives it strength?? :confused:

lignin gives strength to plant cell walls. Cellulose is the actual material that cell walls are composed of.

Cellulose are polymers (chains) of glucose...so basically a suger...and yes, they can provide support.

Cellulose is a naturally occuring condensation polymer.

C6H1206----> H2O + (C6H10O5)
Glucose----->Water + Cellulose
