If you're a UWS student there's a chance. Otherwise probably not.

The thought of someone who has beaten 86% of the cohort not getting a medicine interview makes me very sad indeed.

Med y must u b so hard

nah, umat doesn't pass 50-50-50.
Cheers for clarifying is it only UNE that does that? Does UNSW and UWS also have this requirement? I know when I applied they did but not sure if they have changed it after so many years.

Nah, JMP (UNE and NEWCASTLE) both have that. UNSW uses percentile and UWS uses weighted score to rank applicants.

I'll make a full thread explaining all undergrad medschool requirements and ranking systems as well as last years cutoff in a couple of weeks, that way people won't keep making threads

Especially UTAS please! :) (i.e. the cutoff for interstate students)

UTAS interstate, you pretty much need 100%ile or 97+ to get in. It's extremely competitive for non-tasmanian school leavers.

Nah, UNSW uses raw. I called them up last year after main round offers to find out my ranking, and the guy I talked to read off my UMAT as my raw instead of percentile. To be more precise, he read off my UMAT as (total raw/3).

lol, Total score is how percentile is determined so... it's pretty much the same thing.

Wait, is this overall/3, or sum of each section individually/3. (Cos for some like me the two numbers will be different)

It wouldn't matter because it doesn't change the ranking please use your logic here. I would say they use the sum.

Yep, just a clarification. Although there is potential for your ranking to change slightly (i.e. 1 or 2 places) as you are now tied with some people who's overall is 1 above yours, which could be the difference between getting in or not getting in.

Not the same thing, since raw:percentile isn't linear and there's a pretty steep slope. I'd think only the raw mark would matter and the percentile is just to let the students know how they performed within their cohort.

I'd like to know this too, seeing as my overall/3 is lower than my sum/3 by 0.33, and that could mean the difference getting in or not. I'd like to say that they use sum/3, but I feel like UNSW (and any other unis that only look at the total, not individual sections) would use the overall - why else would ACER release an overall to begin with then?

Because thats how they determine percentile? Monash also uses percentile.

nah im doing med sci@unsw. thanks anyway

thanks mate, gl with your interviews

someone with 88%ile but a high S2 score got in (non-standard)
I was referring to school leavers. Non-Standard interstate is much easier than non-standard school leaver (as weird as that sounds).
