it is interesting to think about how Kirk became a victim of a situation that he supported. Those are some shit last words though![]()
- Charlie Kirk" I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other god given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational”
He tended to fall apart when he debated anyone other than 18 year old kids. Props to his team though, they knew how to make him look good by keeping him out of real debates as much as possible. For those of you blissfully unaware Charlie Kirk was a right wing political activist who basically went around debating University students on culture war issues![]()
It's pretty shocking, they are rapidly devolving into a third world country. He has some pretty abhorrent opinions but nothing he deserved to die over lets be honest. That said, given his statements it is fair to ask, would he have any sympathy for himself? He died for what he believed in you cant deny him that.Bro the video is actually traumatising too. It's very sad to see political violence rising in the United States, the country really is collapsing at an alarming rate.
Sure, just like hamas supporters in gaza after Oct 7it is interesting to think about how Kirk became a victim of a situation that he supported.
Strawman/Red Herring. Both logical fallacies.Sure, just like hamas supporters in gaza after Oct 7![]()
Its not a strawman. I'm drawing an analogy to demonstrate why they made a bad pointStrawman.
A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion. This is a discussion on Charlie Kirk not Hamas or Israel. Consider this me showing you a logical fallacy and warning you as a Mod to keep on topic. Its not a strawman. Im not refuting a different argument than they made. I'm demonstrating the error in their argument by making an analogy. Are you saying analogies have no place in political debatesA straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion. What’s the point of this thread? This isn’t Reddit, it’s a HSC study siteDiscuss
I somewhat agree with the sun control. However, I do have some qualms over whether gun crime can naturally fall without gun control. Do gun crime occur because of the lack of effective enforcement measures which results in a heightened violent environment? Or is it the environment that causes both the lack of control and increased crime? He tended to fall apart when he debated anyone other than 18 year old kids. My hot take is I actually dont support gun control in the US. The fact is, the US is that awash with guns and the "gun culture" there is so great that I just dont think gun control would actually work. The US has a violence problem - as a culture they are addicted to violence and it's glorified to a huge extent. Added to that rising inequality is creating an entire generation of lost and disenfranchised people. It's the perfect storm for crime and violence. I feel if they actually worked on these things, gun crime would naturally fall as a result far more so than with gun control.
