This is an easy and not commonly known way of searching how many band 6's (Distinguished achievers / HSC 90+) your school gets every year for each subject. Use this information as a guideline as to what internal ranks you should be aiming for. I used this for my HSC, although it honestly just resulted in time consuming speculation :mad2:.

1. Go to:
http://www.topscores.info/select-nsw.php

2. In the "Select a pre-defined report from this list" select:
HSC D.A. Counts per School and Subject

3. Filter your searches by school name and search for your school

This should display the Band 6 count or "D.A. Count" for every subject e.g. http://imgur.com/b7XII3r
If you want to get band 6 in Advanced English and you go to James Ruse, you should be aiming to be rank 105 or higher.

Note 1: This is only a guideline someone rank 80 in the JR example might not necessarily get band 6 due to low external mark OR because their year was not as strong in English.
Note 2: The data is obtained from Distinguished achiever lists published by BOSTES every year:

This doesn't work for schools above 100 lol. Not even sure it works for some in the top 50. E.g Penrith.

Ah my bad then
Yea definitely lower ranked schools would show far greater variance in DA count every year.
Agreed, for a subject, last year our grade only got 4 but few years back then there were over 20. Just come first to secure a chance for band 6.
