Eutrophication can be a problem for some of our inland rivers. Identify the contaminant that could cause Eutrophication in a river, given the right conditions.

A: Sodium Sulfate
B: Sodium Chloride
C: Calcium Carbonate
D: Ammonium Sulfate

D because:
Eutrophication occurs due to the nutrient enrichement of waterways which can cause excessive growth of plants. Ammonium sulfate is an important plant nutrient which promotes plant growth, remember that ammonium sulfate can be used as fertilliser (Haber process)?
