When you guys say Chinese, do you mean mandarin or cantonese? or some other language?

I speak cantonese, my reading and writing is very limited.
anyone know any sites where i could download a heap of pages with 'english' prounounciation of the word in mandarin. I wana learn mandarin.

my friend goes to tafe, he can print off unlimited stuff.. so yeah.

well the "chinese" forum is meant to be for the chinese that you learn in high school, LOTE - which is mandarin. but a lot of us here speak canto

do you mean pinyin? what do you need the pinyin for, i might be able to help... or ask xiao, or pigs, or lin.... our native mandos

I speak mano, however my reading an writing is limited

pin yin is the english pronunciation, however you still need to know how to pronounce pin yin. I don't think you would be able to learn it off internet site.

pinyin is damn useful for typing chinese on computer

hmm..i came here in yr 3 now first yr uni student, my reading is alright, can read 90% of the stuff in newspaper, however, writing is very limited as the gramma and totally different to english

and i can read very well.
however, i only write by typing. too lazy to write actual characters. bleh!

i can read adn write ok, but most of the time i can't really understand wtf i'm reading

i can understand mandarin if i strain my ears ok it's not that bad, but if it's too fast or too complicated, forget it. since my cantonese is going down the drain........

take a short course.. someone speaking and teaching is way more effective than reading cos ya need those 4 tones.. which screws me up every time i sit my chinese exams... today = last day of chinese.. *sniff* hahah it got fun near the end

EXACTLY the reason if I fail chinese.

I can read an entire sentence of characters that some people can't read, but I got absolutely N F I WTF it means

but any way, get back tot he question... this thread is meant to be study related (tsk tsk bubz and all those who started lyric thread) and if you search from the beginning, i tried to post some related threads, but failed miserably... not too many pplz study chinese as a hsc subject, despite its great scaling (continuers and ext i am referring to)

so yea, to keep this thread alive, we need to spam... which is kinda cool ^.^

coz most who study chinese as a HSC elective, they dunt come to this forum b^^ u'd probably find heaps in chinese forums b^^
