wait guys is it true that we aren't allowed to start year 12 content until week 4 term 4. Cause my business teacher said that we're gonna just be revising but in other classes we're starting year 12 stuff. Cause honestly what are we gonna revise in 4 weeks

but apparently my teacher said that nesa mandates this rule that we can't start until week 4
you start year 12 HSC subjects day one of term 4 which is why the syllabus for year 11 is for three terms .

You cant be called year 12 until next year because year 12 are still officially year 12 until the hsc results arepublished in December .

Most schools will have done their first HSC assessment by early December December because there are 6 altogher ( 4 modules + trials + hsc)

Strange situation but yes year 12 have to return the English texts so year 11 can start but year 12 will need them till paper 2 is over and then time to return . So to sum up:

1/ Year 11 syllabus has ended at end of term 3

2/ Year 12 HSC syllabus commences with year 11 the start of term 4

3/ it’s about 4 to 5weeks before the texts get looked at in detail

4/ First HSC assessment is usually completed within 2 weeks of term ending ( some schools my choose to do TWO assessments in Term 1 , 2026

in addition to the above this is the NESA explanation re HSC

  1. Schools must not commence the delivery of HSC courses before Day 1, Term 4, except for students undertaking a compressed curriculum delivery model. While Stage 6 VET coursesdo not distinguish between Preliminary and HSC courses the course commencement rules still apply.
  2. Schools must be satisfied that students, including those undertaking a compressed curriculum delivery model, have satisfactorily completed the Preliminary course before commencing the HSC course.
