I tore my hamstring today. I am absolutely fucking devastated. I've been performing so well and right at the end of [sport i was playing] I felt my hamstring pop. Now I can barely walk. Got a physio appointment in an hour. I don't know, I just want to know if anyone here has had a really bad injury and came back okay? (i.e. without too much of a performance drop). I've FINALLY been happy with how I am training / performing and I feel like I've thrown it all out of the window because chances are this will take me out for weeks. I've always been playing 'catch-up' with this certain sport because I started only a few years ago, and I felt like i was finally getting competitive with people my age. I can barely move my leg to walk.

idk this is a dumb, im just shattered

What you're asking isn't dumb and how you're feeling is completely understandable.

I haven't had it happen to me, but I had a friend who suffered multiple injuries, one of which included tearing his ACL. From what he told me, he was out for a while, at the peak of his performance notably, but he recovered and by the time he returned to the field, he was slightly rusty, but not by much. He still continued to do well and won Best Player at the end of the season for that year and many years following that.

Ultimately, while this is disheartening, there is always hope!! Don't put yourself down too much :)
