Commerce at usyd then transfer to comm/law or business/law at UTS? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys I just got my atar (98.25) and i didn't get into law at usyd or unsw and am stuck between two choices.

Which one would you recommend and why?
1) Going to Usyd (which is my most desired uni as well as unsw) for commerce, and then transferring in the second year to comm/law (which may be difficult to get into?)
2) going to uts for business/law. (I have never visited this uni so I have no idea what it's like). Although I have been told many times that going to uts will mean that employers will choose people who went to usyd/unsw over someone who went to uts. And also I have dreamt of going to either usyd or unsw since Year 10

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Go to UNSW or whatever and then internally transfer by getting good marks

yeah true. I'm just scared of not getting good marks even if i try hard though

Well yeah, they can't hand out transfers to every Tom, Dick, and Harry

If you want to get into Comm/Law, you need to get the required ATAR. If you don't, you need to get the required WAM (average mark) at uni, to get in.


That's how it is. Not everyone who wants to study Medicine can get into Medicine, etc.

give it your best shot, and if it doesn't work out, oh well you tried find something else

UNSW is introducing the LAT for their 2017 law entry. Pretty sure it also includes those wanting to transfer into law. http://www.law.unsw.edu.au/future-students/undergraduate/law-admission-test-lat

If you're not good with these kind of stuff, perhaps try and transfer within USYD.

Yeah it does. It includes anyone wanting to start Law at UNSW from 2017.

Not from personal exp. Basically they limit the number of HD's and D's (as well as C's) given out to a certain number of people, so it's quite hard to get one. At most other uni's there is no set number of people who are given D's and HD's.
