I'm deciding whether to do a straight commerce degree at USYD or a double degree with advanced studies. Could someone explain to me the benefits of the advanced studies degree and if it's worthwhile to pursue?

Cheers in advance.

you may as well do it with the adv studies, get an extra major, and although its a year longer the extra year is for honours. Up to you if you want to do hons, i personally would.

If you have a major outside of commerce that you want to do, then do the combined degree with B. Adv. Studies. Otherwise, just go for the single degree.

yeah im choosing com/adv studies cuz the advanced studies give u more flexibility to choose another major from the shared pool of majors and minors and personally i would like to do that. I guess if u wanna consider the downside u gotta think if it is worth the money and the time. hope this helps a lil

Do you know what happens if you do Com/Advanced Studies but don't get the grades required to complete honours? Do you just graduate at the end of year 3?

Not 100% sure but imo it really depends, if you're just barely scrapping by the course with just a pass, i doubt they would recommend the hons year in that case
