What I did last year... could be different, but unlikely: You read a short article, then write a summary on what you had learned. It's basically a "I know how to summarise ideas" test. If your English is poor, or you had a hard time comprehending the article, you'll be put in a slower-moving seminar, whereas if it's good you'll likely be put in a fast-paced seminar. Big difference? How much help they give you and how much time they'll spend on an idea or article.
